Red Heart Super Saver 7 oz (198 g) / 364 yds (333 m)

1 White (A), 2 Black (B), 1 Cherry Red (C)

Materials / Tools
I/9 5.5 mm Tunisian Hook
I/9 5.5 mm Crochet Hook
2 - 14” x 16” pillow forms (or fiber fill)
Scissors
Yarn Needle

Difficulty
Easy

Size
2 pillows 14” X 16” each

Gauge
14 stitches and 12 rows = 4 inches

Stitch Guide
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
yo – yarn over
sc – single crochet
tss – Tunisian simple stitch

Special Stitches
Foundation Row - Skip first chain, insert hook under back hump of next chain, yo and pull up a loop. Repeat until last chain.

Standard Return Pass – Ch 1, *yo and pull through 2 loops; repeat from * across. One loop will remain on hook.

Tunisian Simple Stitch – Insert hook into next vertical bar, yo and pull up a loop (keep loop on hook), repeat from * across.

Bind Off - Insert hook into next vertical bar, yo and pull through vertical bar and loop on hook. Repeat across. Finish off.

Notes
1. All Tunisian rows use a standard return pass.

2. The remaining loop on the hook always counts as the first stitch of the next row and the first square of the chart.

3. Start reading the chart from the bottom right corner. When working in Tunisian, the charts are always read from left to right on every row. When working in single crochet, odd rows are read left to right and even rows are read from right to left.

4. The pattern includes a plain back panel for the pillow, but you could make two front panels and make the pillows reversible if you wish.

5. This pattern could be made in single crochet if you prefer. As long as gauge is met it should work perfectly.

Instructions

Front Panel

With Tunisian hook and color A, ch 58

Row 1: Foundation row. (58 loops on hook)

Follow chart of choice for design color placement.

Row 2-42: Tss

Row 43: Bind off (see special stitches)

Panel Border
Attach color C in any corner with standard crochet hook, ch 1, 2 sc in same st, sc in each stitch around and 2 sc in each corner. Sl st to 1st sc and fasten off.

Back Panel

With Tunisian hook and color B, ch 58

Row 1: Starting with 2nd ch from hook, work foundation row in back hump of each chain (58 loops on hook)

Rows 2 – 42: Tss

Row 43: Bind off (see special stitches)

Panel Border
Attach color C in any corner with standard crochet hook, ch 1, 2 sc in same st, sc in each stitch around and 2 sc in each corner. Sl st to 1st sc and fasten off.

Finishing
Weave in ends on panels. Place front and back panel with wrong sides together and front panel facing you. With 5.5 mm crochet hook attach color C in top right corner, working through both front and back panels, sc in each st around top, side and bottom of pillow. Insert pillow form (or stuff with fiber fill) and finish last side. When using fiber fill it would work better to start closing the last side about ½ to ¾ of the way first and then stuff. Finish off and weave in ends.
